Hackney Foodbank

Helping end hunger and hardship in Hackney.

Hackney Foodbank was launched 13 years ago.

Years of austerity, high rents and the rising cost of food and fuel have hit residents hard. In the last 5 years, food prices in the UK have increased by over 38% and demand for our services has reached a new high.

Hackney Foodbank provides emergency food for an average of 680 people per week, providing 312,000 emergency meals in 2025. They offer non-perishable food, hygiene products and pet food at 6 distribution centres (Monday-Saturday). The Hackney Giving Van, our mobile food bank, takes emergency food to the heart of the community.

Their lunch support scheme ensures children in poverty don’t go hungry during the school holidays.

Hackney Foodbank's in-house casework team helps visitors move on to better situations, supporting them to access benefits, grants, debt advice and mental health support so that no-one's left behind. None of this is possible without the kind support of the community. Thank you.
