African Children's Fund

Making a difference to children born into poverty.

African Children's Fund is a small charity, supporting over 5,000 children born into poverty in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. We work with local partners in each of those countries on projects that help children go to school, giving them the best possible opportunities for the future.

The biggest programme we support is a Porridge Clubs scheme in Kenya which operates in primary schools in and around the town of Thika. Porridge Clubs support children's education by encouraging school attendance and the completion of primary education. This simple, cost-effective solution to school absence means over 1,800 children go to school every day rather than working, scavenging or begging on the streets.

Other activities we support range from sanitary towel and educational resource distribution programmes, to legal aid and slum dweller education forums promoting children’s rights.
